I normally wear between a large and xl depending on the designer, 5'3", 36D and 138 lbs and with this dress I could fit into both sizes but even the xl was way too tight, I'm not sure there was much difference between the sizes. The snaps were strong enough to contain me and I didn't feel like they would pop open but it was sausage casing tight, not a good look. I think you have to be an A or B cup to fit the top, so both sizes were returned.
