We left Friday morning with 2 bags of ice and Sunday night we still had a bag if not more left. It was our drink and food cooler. 90* weather. Every thing stayed cold. HUZZAH!great quality. Easy to take with you .Love itWe do not travel a lot, but I do have a lot of doctors' appointments that require driving 4 hours total. For those appointments that we need to spend the night we needed a larger cooler that we could pack meals and water to make the hospital more tolerable. We have a smaller Igloo cooler that my husband bought nearly 20 years ago that works beautifully for one day trips. It will keep water and two lunches cold in a very hot car with two solid ice packs - no problem. Before we bought this cooler I looked into all of the new coolers on the market like the Yeti and Coleman x-treme. These are expensive coolers and I figured they would outperform the Igloo and I would have been happy to spend the money on a product that would keep our meals colder longer. We had a Yeti and a Coleman cooler and tested them in our kitchen two summers ago. First we pre-chilled each cooler by placing it over an air conditioning vent for ten minutes. We filled each cooler with frozen water bottles, one large frozen water jug and then filled it the rest of the way with cans of cold seltzer water. The temperature in our house was about 67 degrees and all three coolers were in the complete shade. These were not difficult cooler conditions. The ice in the Coleman x-treme cooler started to melt after about 5 hours. I would not recommend the Coleman cooler to anyone. It was terrible. The Yeti started to melt shortly thereafter at 8 hours. The Igloo held its own and there were still solid bottles of water after 15 hours. At 22 hours the water was just starting to melt, and I was starting to get tired of waiting. I returned the Coleman cooler to my parents, returned the Yeti to my uncle and kept the Igloo for our own use. This Igloo has a handle and wheels which is SO nice. My husband has to do all the heavy lifting, but he can lift it out of the car and I can easily drag it along. It's sturdy and it fits a surprising amount of stuff on the inside. We do not use loose ice, we always use frozen water bottles and ice packs. These don't create pools of water as they melt and seem to last longer. Also pre-chilling the cooler, either with a large frozen gallon of water or over an air vent works really well. We also always pack a small towel or pillow case on the top for extra insulation. We would buy this cooler again without hesitation.I already have an extra large cooler and wanted one that is more convenient for shorter trips. Took this cooler out for a weekend of camping and it perfect. Just the right size to easily fit the food for my family with room to spare. I love the dimensions- easy for one person to carry with the two handles. The wheels and pull handle are great (i like the it doesn't telescope- those always end up getting stuck). One feature that I especially like - and it's one others complain about - is the fact that there is no water draining spigot. I hate being worried that something is going to pull in out and we'll end up with a leak in our trailer or car. This cooler is small enough to easily dump any extra water out and now I don't have to worry about mistakes and leaks. I got some of those max cooler inserts so that there wasn't much water build up anyway but if there was it's no biggie to dump it out.Everything stayed really cold too. in the two days I was out the max cooler inserts did not defrost- granted I was in cold weather, no warmer that 60 degrees, so if anything changes on that front in the summer I'll update. I doubt it will though. This seems very well made.I own 5 of these coolers that I bought 2-5 years ago, and this one is not the same quality as my old ones, either IGLOO changed their quality control standards or this is counter feit, says its is made in USA, but I am disappointed, the handle is flumisy and it lighter than my other ones, just for FYI, I will not be buying it again, and it was such a good design, and the size 40 qt was perfect, just disappointedRodneyI just ordered an igloo maxcold cooler. These are highly rated, but I have not used mine yet. The cooler comes in 40, 50, 70, and 100 quart sizes. The picture accompanying any size you might select indicated a standard box with handles and a - no wheels. I chose the 40 size and was surprised when it arrived today with wheels, no drain, and a different lid opening than was pictured. I immediately assumed I had been sent the wrong cooler - so I checked. Although the picture was as described above, the description of the 40 quart indicated wheels, etc. I was kinda pissed that I didn't pay more attention to the words (and not to the pictured cooler). But.....it is rather deceptive. Why not just switch to an accurate picture when the 40 quart cooler is selected? Ah well, lesson learned.Love the design but no drain port. Description listed a port. Will use for dry goods. Bought a different cooler for regular use.Excelente, súper grande y cabe en la cajuela solo que después de comprarla la vi más barata en waltmart! :/Perfect size for my needs. Very sturdy, lots of insulation. Especially like the insulation in lid. Makes a strong seat. Wheels appear sturdy and durable. No drain hole so need to tip it to get rid of melted ice.
